I Hear God in YouI met Ron through my site about 9 months ago. I received an e-mail from him regarding my web site and a beautiful song he had written called, “I Here God in You.” This song was so powerful, I asked his permission to put it on my web site and he agreed. This song was written by Ron K., a recovered alcoholic and a musician.
Ron has just finished working on a set of recovery songs, which are available on CD on his website.
Ron first got sober in Nashville, TN in 1986, but after two years relapse. He put together another eight years, and now he has been sober for over 11 years. Through the years Ron has gone to many retreats, lots of meditations, he visited death row and taught music at Riverbend Max prison in Nashville for many years. He studied martial arts for 6 years in his 40s, and performed with his mom (20 yrs sober and a great singer/storyteller) at schools, hospitals, hospice, etc. for many years. He also sings and plays with Terry at churches, spiritual retreats, AA conventions, hospice, etc. Ron makes his living creating music for TV/Films, etc.
Ron is married with three children - a 38 year old son, a 32 year old daughter, and a 4 ½ year old, Noah Skye. He has three grandchildren ranging from 6 to 9 years old. His daughter, who's profoundly hearing impaired, now has had a cochlear implant and is doing wonderfully. Both of his older children live in Nashville. Five years ago, he re-married. His wife, Terry B., is a singer/songwriter and a massage therapist. Ron met her about 6 years ago at a party at his sponsor's house in Nashville. His sponsor, Pete, and Pete’s wife sang at Ron’s wedding. Her was, also, Ron’s best man. “My sponsor, Pete, is now my best friend(we call each other co-sponsors). They have since moved to San Diego, and we've visited various times. They've come to Ithaca during the summer as well.”
I came to [this web site] through a friend in the program, who has suggested I keep writing songs about recovery, and suggested the third step prayer of NA for my next song. I love your site! And I was moved to tears by the story about Charlie, and want you to know that I hold you both and your families and friends in my prayers.
I am incredibly blessed, very happy, but very tired a lot of the time...Noah loves to jump on me more than anything else in life... Life is sweet - difficult financially the last 3 months or so, but we have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams and always have been lovingly taken care of.
I am eternally grateful for the program and my community of friends, my true "family". We are a real tight knit community here at the 518 nooner in Ithaca, one guy calls it "our little utopian community". I am ever more amazed at the spiritual genius and grace that converged on Dr. Bob and Bill W and their little band of drunks. It is a circle of love, light and truth that is ever growing and winding its way around the world.
Ron K.
